Structures and change – Tracing adaptability based on structural porosity in converted buildings

Abstract Among the approaches of circular construction, reuse buildings can be considered most desirable as it leaves a large portion embodied carbon untouched. At same time, also minimises energy effort modifying, transporting or reprocessing components. However, its underlying mechanisms and boundaries are largely understudied convertibility adaptability currently at rudimentary integrated neither into legal frameworks nor architectural technical design process in practice. In this paper, new methodology is presented based on models Brand (1995) Leupen (2006) to describe function their structure.
